Flooring Estimator - New Construction MFI has a great opportunity for an estimator to join a dynamic and fast-paced team. The individual that accepts this position is vital to our success and has a direct impact on the bottom line. The Estimator will have responsibility for accurately forecasting subcontractor cost, budget and bid packages for all flooring types (carpet, tile, vinyl, etc.) in multi-Family (garden, mid and high rise), Senior Living, Hospitality and Student Housing projects. Management relies on the estimates generated by this person to ensure margin and profitability of awarded contracts. Responsibilities Perform accurate take-offs using a computer software program (RFMS) and Microsoft Excel to ensure estimates follow the Scope of Work Prepare proposal/bid package for client presentation and review Identify scope gaps, and clarify plans and specifications with architects and engineers Document seams and cuts to allow others to follow behind you Develop relationship with suppliers for material pricing and value engineering exercises Communicate with a wide variety of professionals including architects, owner representatives, general contractors and suppliers Consistently strive to improve individual capabilities, performance and expand knowledge of construction technologies and techniques. Qualifications Minimum 2-year experience in flooring estimating. Detail oriented, precise and well organized. Have a strong work ethic. Willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, including demonstrating flexible work hours as demands and deadlines require. Knowledge in floor covering (carpet, tile, wood, and vinyl). Coachability Proficient at interpreting complex drawings and specifications Previous experience working with blueprints is helpful. Work in a manner that demonstrates care and concern for company profitability while maintaining complete focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations. Track record of meeting hard deadlines that are directly tied to revenue generation. Ability to multi task and transition between projects simultaneously to meet multiple customer demands. Ability to manage daily stress. Does not mind constant interruption and can shift direction quickly. Must be proficient with MS Office software, specifically Excel.
